CDO FOOTBALL Week of 9/9 News

PROGRAM NEWS (From Coach McKee)

Big week for the Dorados,

Proud of all three levels last week. Players showed tremendous improvement and pride in their craft. They will continue to grow quickly with that type of attitude. We have an extremely unselfish team of blue collar, young men that are willing to do the hard things.

This week we will play a very good Desert View Varsity team. They have a great deal of talent in the skill positions and toughness on the front lines. It will be a hard nosed game just the way we like it...can't wait!!!

Special shout out to all the parents and booster members that helped with pregame meals for all three levels. First class operation and amazing support. We are extremely grateful. There are only a handful of programs that have the parents and resources to feed all three levels.

This week we have three games:

THURSDAY 9/12  Freshman is away @ Desert View 6 PM kick off

THURSDAY 9/12 JV is at HOME vs Walden Grove

FRIDAY 9/13 Varsity is away @ Desert View 7 PM Kick off

Bus and release times will be announced later in the week. Thank you to all the parents for helping reduce issues with parent travel post-game.  Remember, we're open to post game travel as long as your form is in and we know early in the week so we can help plan meals and bus seats.

Super excited to see all three levels get a chance to perform and play the game they love. It's hard to find three games per week. I am super excited for the opportunities to review film and watch them as they develop over this season.

Varsity will send a few players per week to play in the JV games to help reinforce the JV team and get some players additional game reps. This is a key element in development for the players. We are allowed to play up to 5 quarters per week. I am excited to see the guys get the opportunity. FYI-Some players WILL dress and play back-to-back nights.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO ALL OUR GAME DAY MEALS FOR LAST WEEK'S GAMES!! THANK YOU!!

THIS WEEKS COACHING SPOTLIGHTS

 Coach Jordan Hitchye

Program offensive line and Run Game coordinator,

On campus ops, college recruiting, and player support.

Name: Coach J

How many years have you been coaching?  "I’ve been coaching football for about 10 years now. Also Coached at Catalina Magnet and Sahuarita High school"

What do you love about our Canyon Del Oro School? "What I love most about CDO is the support from parents, families and the community along with how hard our kids work every single day."

What do you enjoy?  "What I do when I’m not coaching is hang out with my fiance Sarah and our dog Willow or put some ribs on the smoker.

I appreciate my fiance Sarah for putting up with football 24/7 in our house. She’s a real trooper".

From McKee:

"Coach J Is the heartbeat and backbone of this program. Every day he brings the juice and energy needed to coach the kids upfront. He is an outstanding motivator and has great knowledge of offensive line play. His offensive lines have been the best in the city the last three seasons. We expect this year to be no different. Coach J brings a fun family feel to the team and his group, the "trench mob" are the leaders of the team and they are the tip of the spear for us as a program.  This season, the coach is taking on extra responsibilities with Ofield and Ofield operations. He's done a tremendous job of helping me bridge the gap as a new coach on campus.  I appreciate it, and I trust Coach to the fullest. He has our back! Always willing to do whatever it takes for us to be successful. Super excited to have him as a coach and so happy for him and Sarah's future."

AND....

Coach Brit Main

Freshman Head Coach

Varsity linebackers and rb support

Name: Coach Main

How many years have you been coaching?  "I have 9 years of coaching"

What do you love about our Canyon Del Oro School? "CDO is where I transitioned from a boy to a young man. There’s only one Dorado mascot in the nation, it’s a unique environment, we’re blessed with beautiful sunsets and sunrises on our mountain overlooking our campus. At CDO you can graduate and immediately start making an impact in any of the blue collar trades, or you can go to an Ivy League school. We can and do set our students and athletes up for success in all walks of life."

What do you enjoy? "I enjoy mechanics, woodworking, spending time with my siblings, parents and dogs, and trying to make an impact on the community that I grew up in."

Coach McKee Remarks on Coach Main:

"Coach Main was born and raised a true Dorado. He not only went to school here, but he excelled on the football field. He brings toughness and determination to this program. He helps teach the standard of Cdo Football. After serving nine years as an assistant coach, this year he gets his turn as the Head Freshman Coach.  He will do a tremendous job leading our Freshman team. He's also a huge asset for us on Friday nights. He has been a tremendous resource for me as far as traditions and standards of the program. I look forward to watching him continue to develop and I believe he's a rising star in the profession. Excited our freshmen have a man like this to lead them."
