A Quick Guide to Food Donations for Dorado Football

Why are we asking for ingredient information?

Our Dorado Football family loves coming together to feed and support our players, especially on game days. This year, there is an important change we want all of our parent volunteers and food donors to be aware of.

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, the Arizona Healthy Schools Act (A.R.S. §15-242.01) places restrictions on certain foods served, sold or provided to students on school campuses during the school day. The law applies to food provided by schools as well as third parties, including parent groups and organizations.

For purposes of this law, the school day is defined as midnight before the instructional day through 30 minutes after the end of the instructional day.

What foods are restricted?

Food and beverages containing any of the following 11 ingredients cannot be served or provided to students during the school day:

  • Potassium bromate

  • Propylparaben

  • Titanium dioxide

  • Brominated vegetable oil (BVO)

  • Yellow Dye 5

  • Yellow Dye 6

  • Blue Dye 1

  • Blue Dye 2

  • Green Dye 3

  • Red Dye 3

  • Red Dye 40

These ingredients can be found in some breads and baked goods, frostings, candies, cereals, snacks, sports drinks and other packaged foods. Because ingredients can vary by brand, flavor and product—and can change over time—checking the actual ingredient label is important.

What does this mean for our game-day breakfasts?

We want to make participating as easy as possible! If you are donating food for a team breakfast or other school-day event, we need to be able to verify the ingredients in everything being served to our players.

By Tuesday evening (or 2 days before the event), please provide a complete list of the ingredients used in anything you are preparing or donating.

For homemade items, please also send clear photos of the complete ingredient statements from every packaged product used to make the item.

For example, if you're making homemade cookies, we would need the ingredient labels for the:

  • Flour

  • Sugar

  • Butter

  • Chocolate chips

  • Baking mix

  • Frosting

  • Sprinkles

  • Any other packaged ingredients used

You do not need to provide a label for fresh, whole fruits or vegetables, but please include those items on your ingredient list.

What should I photograph?

Please photograph the product name and complete ingredient list on the package—not just the Nutrition Facts panel.

If we cannot verify the ingredients in a donated item, we may not be able to serve it at the team breakfast.

We know this adds an extra step, and we truly appreciate everyone's help in making sure we can continue providing these special game-day meals for our players while following CDO's requirements.

Thank you, Dorado Family!

Our game-day breakfasts are possible because of the generosity of our parent volunteers. Thank you for continuing to show up for our athletes, feed our team and make game days special.

We appreciate your help in keeping our players well-fed, supported and ready to Go Dorados!

Questions about a food item? When in doubt, please send us the ingredient label before purchasing or preparing it, DoradoFootballTouchdownClub@Gmail.com
